The Barn Bootcamp grew Mo’s for the Bro’s!
Throughout the month of November, the personal trainers and members of The Barn Bootcamp ran a number of charity events in a bid to raise as much money as possible for men’s mental health and testicular and prostate cancer charity, Movember.
Every week The Barn Bootcamp sees hundreds of people walk through the doors, aiming to become a happier and healthier version of themselves.
Although our expertise might be around fitness and nutrition, we know that health extends far beyond training and eating well.
Movember works to encourage men to stay healthy in all areas of their life, with a focus on men staying socially connected and becoming more open to discussing their health and significant moments in their lives.
The charity’s vision is to have an everlasting impact on the face of men’s health.
Each year, more than 4,300 men die by suicide in the UK, with 3 out of 4 deaths by suicide are men.
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer amongst men in the UK. One man dies from prostate cancer every 45 minutes in the UK.
The Barn Bootcamp wanted to support this meaningful cause, in the hope that our efforts might help improve or save the lives of any who may suffer from mental health issues or prostate cancer.
We went big, and we went bold.
And not just in the length of the tashes…
On Friday 4th November, the trainers of The Barn embarked on a challenge that pushed them physically and mentally.
20 minute workout
For 24 hours
In typical Barn fashion, each workout was designed to push us hard, testing our physical and mental fortitude to the limit.
The Barn Bootcamp Members were able to sponsor a workout, whereby they could choose what the Personal Trainers had to do.
Let’s just say, they got their own back for all those Bootcamps…
We were incredibly grateful to have so many members, friends and family join us for each workout throughout the 24 hours.
We didn’t have a single workout where it was just us, even in the depths of the night!
Our incredible members brought us homemade goodies, we had a delicious BBQ and even an incredible slow cooked pulled pork made for us at midnight!
At this early stage in the month, we had managed to raise an incredible £3,000 which surpassed our original target of £2,500.
With a headshave of our personal trainer Macca, and a new target set, £6,000 was the goal.
Our second event of the month was the long awaited Battle Of The Trainers, on the 25th of November.
Throughout the year, our members take part in the infamous The Barn Games, whereby they battle it out to be crowned the best members of The Barn.
It was time for the trainers to get stuck in and join the members in the workouts to step up to the challenge and see which trainer will come out on top.
Each trainer captained a team of 5 members, who took part in a knockout fitness competition.
It was a Friday night in late November.
We were expecting it to be a little chilly but the atmosphere was electric and certainly warmed the place up!
There were tyre flips, snatches, sled push and a whole lot of ergs metres covered.
Friends and family gathered to cheer us all on, with Pizza Passionae keeping everyone’s bellies full and The Pint Shop ensuring no one was parched!
After a buzzing 3 rounds of competition, Cormac’s team came out on top and were crowned the first ever Battle Of The Trainers winners!
We held a raffle on the evening with local businesses donating some incredible prizes. We can’t thank the follow enough for helping us raise so much money: The Pint Shop, Hatti Designs, Webber & Co Hairdressers, The Foode Meal Prep, LuluLemon, Rennet & Rhind, Market Place Coffee, Sweaty Betty, Steak and Honour, Gnawty Bites, Auction House and more!
Thanks to the generosity of our members, local community and local businesses, we ended the month with a whooping £6,043 raised for a truly special charity – Movember.
We are blown away by the support and kindness from everyone, and are incredibly proud to have brought the community together to raise so much money.
Next year will see a different charity with new challenges.. Can we top this year?
